The Great Escape
Description:
Before cancer can spread, its cells must first learn to let go. This image captures lung cancer cells in the midst of that transformation. Their glowing internal scaffolding has been dramatically reorganised, allowing the cells to change shape and prepare for movement. Triggered by a synthetic molecule that transports ions across cell membranes, these changes offer new insight into the mechanisms that drive cancer progression.
