Listening to my mungbean plants
Description:
This photo was taken in mungbean fields at Hermitage Research Facility, Warwick, QLD, during my work of collecting shoot sampling at maximum biomass for N15 analysis, ranking genotypes by symbiotic nitrogen fixation (SNF) capacity. Part of the GRDC-funded project "Genetic Initiative to Transform SNF in Australian Pulses," this field trial follows my PhD glasshouse screening of 300+ mungbean genotypes from WorldVeg and diverse Australian accessions, testing whether glasshouse-based selections hold up under field conditions. This work highlights efforts to boost SNF in mungbean, reducing reliance on synthetic nitrogen fertiliser for more sustainable food production. Mungbean also offers an affordable, protein-rich alternative to meat, supporting food security in developing countries.

An excellent photo reflecting science and life. Yes, we can speak to plants and they speak back...... just different type of language. Hoping you will have a very satisfying career with plants and thinking in your life.
